The Line, Saudi Arabia

The Line in Saudi Arabia's NEOM metropolis may be one step closer to being the largest structure in human history. This occurs as the managers of the construction project have partnered with a prominent Austrian design firm.

The stunning but contentious development is presently being built, with 2045 as the most recent estimated completion date. The enormous structure was once intended to be more than 100 miles long, 200 meters wide (more than two football fields), and 500 meters high (almost as tall as One World Trade Center).

"As development and construction of The Line proceed, we have formed a special partnership which brings leading the way city engineering and design expertise to deliver Phase One," stated Denis Hickey, Chief Development Officer, The Line. The foundation of this is collaboration, with a citywide best practice group showing how innovation can permanently alter the way we think about, plan, and construct cities. This is a reflection of NEOM's global aspirations and vision.
